Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Richard Raši, received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar, Jassim Yaaqob Al-Hamadi, at the Parliament. In doing so, he confirmed that Slovakia views Qatar as an important partner in the Middle East region.
Richard Raši affirmed Slovakia’s interest in opening a diplomatic mission in Doha. According to him, this could significantly contribute to the development of bilateral cooperation, including trade. He noted that Slovak businesses currently export mainly automobiles to Qatar, but there is also potential for cooperation in the areas of LNG, energy, and the defense industry. “At the meeting, we agreed that Slovakia and Qatar are interested in creating the best possible conditions for mutual cooperation, including the conclusion of an Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Investments and an Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation,” said Raši. The Qatari ambassador expressed interest in having Slovak representatives participate in the prestigious Doha Forum this December. The forum is a global platform that brings together leaders to discuss global challenges and explore avenues for cooperation.
