The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico held a several-hour working meeting in Bratislava in July. They agreed on specific cooperation on an infrastructure project on the Danube River in the capital, as well as the continuation of projects already launched in the defence industry.

The talks also focused on a PPP project in Slovak agriculture related to irrigation and the possible entry of an investor from the UAE into Slovakia’s state-controlled spa industry. “Among other topics, we asked the president for support in establishing a direct air link between Bratislava and Dubai or Abu Dhabi,” the prime minister said. He noted that they also discussed the current security situation in the Middle East and Ukraine. The UAE head of state was accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Presidential Adviser Mohamed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, as well as several ministers and senior officials. “UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan once again demonstrated that he is an exceptionally pragmatic, rational and visionary leader. In this context, I praised the significant contribution of his leadership to ensuring stability in the Middle East region,” Fico noted.
