Since 10 September, actor, director and educator Emil Horváth has had his own commemorative tile on the Film Walk of Fame in front of the P. O. Hviezdoslav Theatre in Bratislava. He became the sixteenth person to be honoured by the project.

The project’s founder, Mária Reháková, noted that the walkway is intended to be “a legacy for future generations” and to preserve the memory of prominent figures in Slovak film and theatre. When honouring Horváth, she also highlighted his appeal to Czech audiences and the importance of culture as a space that continues to unite Czechs and Slovaks. This year’s ceremony also featured an amusing moment involving the latest honouree. When Milan Kňažko’s tile was unveiled a year ago, Horváth joked that a person can work hard their entire life and still ultimately “end up on the pavement”. In his speech, he then emphasised the importance of a free and supportive environment for artists and also thanked his wife, Vierka Horváthová-Richterová, for her contribution to his longevity as an actor.
