Czecho-Slovak Evening

On the same day that Peter Pellegrini made his first visit to Prague as president, the Czecho-Slovak Diplomatic Evening was held in the grand hall of the Ambassador – Zlatá Husa Hotel. The event brought together not only well-known faces from politics but also from the world of arts and culture. Additionally, two anniversaries were celebrated – the 76th anniversary of the founding of the weekly magazine Slovenka and the 10th anniversary of The Business Soirée.

The evening began with speeches from the owners and publishers of the two periodicals, Mária Reháková and Peter Závodský. In their speeches, they emphasized the solidarity and excellent relations between Czechia and Slovakia. This sentiment was echoed by many other guests. Notable Slovak attendees included the Slovak Minister of Culture Martina Šimkovičová, Peter Pellegrini’s presidential advisor Ján Kubiš, Chair of the Foreign Aff airs Committee of the Slovak NC Marián Kéry, State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Transport Denisa iláková, her colleague from the Ministry of Interior Lucia Kurilovská, MP Ján Ferenčák, and former Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government Ján Čarnogurský. Among the Czech attendees were Deputy Speaker of the Chamber and First Vice-Chair of ANO 2011 Karel Havlíček, former Foreign Minister Cyril Svoboda, former Ambassador to Slovakia Lívia Klausová, former Finance Minister Ivan Pilný, former Speaker of the Chamber Radek Vondráček, and former Minister of Labor Michaela Marksová. The excellent atmosphere of the evening was greatly enhanced by the Czecho-Slovak host duo, Simona Simanová from STVR and Josef Mádle from TV Prima. Heidi Janků’s performance got the audience clapping, and the evening also featured a performance by the accordion band Opatovskí Harmonikári and even Mexican mariachi music. The fashion collection by designer Zuzana Haková and the pieces by clothing designer Jozef Grondžák and his brand Lombardi also garnered signifi cant interest. 
The success of the evening was also thanks to the sponsors, which included Agados, eVoltik, Fleetshield, Satum, SPP, Temperatior, and Transpetrol, with Mary Kay partnering for the fashion show.
