At the beginning of March, Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates. The talks focused primarily on the current situation in the Middle East, as well as on bilateral cooperation and investment projects.
Fico thanked the United Arab Emirates for its assistance in organizing the evacuation of Slovak citizens from the region. “I welcomed the openness of the United Arab Emirates in facilitating the evacuation of Slovak citizens via UAE aircraft, including the possibility of direct flights between Bratislava and Dubai,” he said, expressing full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, which has faced repeated missile attacks from Iran. In terms of mutual cooperation, the minister expressed particular interest in collaboration in nuclear energy. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Robert Kaliňák, and State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marek Eštok.
