Speaker of the new Slovak Parliament Peter Pellegrini chose Czechia as the destination of his first foreign sojourn. During his visit to Prague, he met with President Petr Pavel as well as Prime Minister Petr Fiala. He visited the Chamber of Deputies alongside its Speaker Markéta Pekarová Adamová and also met with Senate President Miloš Vystrčil.

Pellegrini discussed an array of topics with the Czech officials, including matters such as the situation in Ukraine, migration, extending the Schengen Area, or the possible linking of both countries' energy transmission systems and the sharing of capacities to smooth out imbalances in the power network. “The words spoken of the exceptional relations between Czechs and Slovaks are not just a cliche but rather everyday reality. These visits are not only symbolic but also practical. Cooperation between countries shouldn't be limited to the level of governments but should also happen on the parliamentary plane,” said Pellegrini among other things. His visit also included laying a wreath at the Tomb of an Unknown Soldier at the Vítkov National Memorial and placing a bouquet at Alexandr Dubček's memorial.
