In late June, the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jakub Kulhánek, received Qatari Ambassador, His Excellency, Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, and Chargé d'Affaires, Mohammed Yaaqob Al Madadi.
As the Minister pointed out, the signing of the agreement to stop dual taxation, and the initiation of negotiations on the agreement on investment protection, alongside the planned opening of a Czech embassy in Doha early next year, mark the beginning of a new era of economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Qatari Ambassador expressed interest in broadening the scope of cooperation, not only in terms of trade and investments but also culture and sports – specifically football. He says that he is very much looking forward to having Czech fans attend the upcoming World Cup, which will be hosted by Qatar.
The Ambassador attended a similar audience at the Ministry of Finance, where, accompanied by Peter Závodský and Martin Horák from the Board of trade for GCC countries, he met the Minister, Alena Schillerová.
