Věra Terzijská knows almost everything there is to know about skin. She runs the Veramedica Clinic in Prague’s Slovanský dům, where she focuses on aesthetic medicine, dermatology, cosmetology, dermatologic surgery, laser treatments, and is planning to expand services to include nutritional counseling.

The current trend is a return to natural beauty. What should we understand by that?
In the past, women wanted plumped lips and prominent cheeks, but then they all started to look somewhat alike. A return to natural beauty was only a matter of time – especially women in middle age now want aesthetic treatments that no one can spot.

Do you try the treatments you offer on yourself?
Of course! I also notice various details on my own skin and try to prevent signs of aging. I test new treatments on myself because my own experience allows me to give better advice to my clients. For example, I have tried biostimulation and have had great results with it.

How does it work – what is it based on?
The main components are polylactic acid, polynucleotides derived from wild salmon sperm, and the strongest biostimulation agent is polycaprolactone. Biostimulation is a process that actively stimulates cells to produce their own collagen and elastin. At the same time, it has a powerful anti-inflammatory and hydrating effect due to its ability to retain water at the structural level of nucleotides. It triggers skin regeneration and ensures a fresh appearance. It is an ideal solution for clients with sagging skin. Biostimulation significantly firms the skin, improves elasticity, reduces wrinkles, delivers an overall lifting effect, and boosts skin suppleness. The skin looks more youthful, healthier, and more radiant. Recently, biostimulation has been very popular for the face, especially around the eyes, as well as the neck and décolletage. The procedure should ideally be repeated two to three times at intervals of two to four weeks. It’s important to emphasize that biostimulation does not create volume – it rejuvenates the skin.

A popular technique at your clinic is bipolar radiofrequency treatment. What is this method?
Radiofrequency is used to remove and smooth wrinkles and tighten the skin. It corrects skin sagging, improves skin tone, and the overall result is a more defined facial contour. It uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate the regeneration of collagen and elastin in the dermis, which is the middle layer of the skin. It heats the tissue to a depth of about two to six millimeters, stimulating collagen fibers and increasing microcirculation. It also promotes lymphatic drainage of fat and toxins. By heating the tissue, visible clinical results are achieved, especially for sagging skin. The outcome is improved skin tone, smoother skin, and wrinkle reduction. The advantage is that this method can be used on all skin types and phototypes throughout the year.

Another option is redermalization, or skin renewal…
Yes, this is a popular mesotherapy technique aimed not only at rejuvenating surface skin structures but also at protecting the skin from oxidative stress. This treatment uses an innovative combination of hyaluronic acid, succinic acid, vitamins, peptides, exosomes, polynucleotides, and various other substances. These play a key role in important metabolic processes across all skin layers. With redermalization, we achieve better skin quality, reduce pigmentation, and slow down signs of aging. This technique can be used to treat the entire face or targeted areas such as the forehead, eye area, neck, décolletage, or backs of the hands.

Hyaluronic acid is often called the elixir of youth. Why is that?
Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the body – it works as a natural filler with the ability to bind water. Its depletion is one of the main causes of skin aging. The less we have in the skin, the more wrinkles appear. Hyaluronic acid is a key component of the extracellular matrix and is found in connective, epithelial, and nerve tissues of living organisms. Regularly replenishing this acid is vital for healthy, youthful-looking skin. In comprehensive aesthetic care, hyaluronic acid is delivered to the skin in two ways. The first is the classic application through creams and serums. The main drawback is its minimal absorption into the skin. The second method is the injection of pure hyaluronic acid in gel form directly into the skin – this method is very effective and fast.

Summer is approaching, and harsh sun is not very beneficial for the skin. How can we protect it?
During the summer months, adequate hydration is very important. Deep hydration is ideal – an established method is Skinbooster. This involves injecting cross-linked hyaluronic acid with fine needles or a cannula into the deeper layers of the facial skin. While most cosmetic products and procedures care for your skin only on the surface, the Skinbooster method hydrates and rejuvenates it from within.

Many people struggle with hair issues. How does hair mesotherapy work?
Scalp microneedling is a widely used mesotherapy technique that helps prevent hair loss, stimulates hair growth, and strengthens hair. An innovative method is the application of exosomes through microneedling. The concept is based on the skin’s natural self-repair ability. This method is used not only to strengthen and improve hair quality but also to address hair loss and stimulate the growth of healthy hair. It is especially recommended for treating alopecia, restoring damaged hair due to hormonal changes or stress.

Do you have any summer plans?
I love warm weather and sunshine. I enjoy playing golf, working out, and vacationing by the sea. This year, though, I’ll also be relaxing at work because of the opening of the new Veramedica Clinic.
