How do you see the diplomatic relations between the Czech Republic and the United Arab Emirates?
UAE diplomacy has succeeded in building the strongest of relations between the UAE and the countries of the world and has led to the creation of strategic partnerships as well as bringing the UAE people closer to other nations. Emirati citizens are proud to have gained the confidence of the countries having the third most powerful passport in the world and allowing the Emirati citizen visa free entry to 163 countries.
UAE diplomatic relations were established with the Czechoslovakia in 1988 and renewed in 1993 after the establishment of the Czech Republic and are based on mutual respect and solid foundations. Through our joint efforts, these continue to develop and grow.
The successful visit of President H.E. MilošZemanto the United Arab Emirates in 2015 opened new horizons for the promotion of relations as did the visit of the President (Speaker) of the Chamber of Deputies / Parliament of the Czech Republic H.E.Radek Vondráček, to the UAE this September and who was accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Tlapa, Members of Parliament and a team of businessmen who formed a new impetus for relations between the two countries.
The Czech participation in EXPO 2020 Dubai will be an opportunity to strengthen the Czech trade presence in the UAE and in the region.
The UAE is celebrating its 47th National Day this month. What are the founding pillars that have made it the modern and prosperous country it is today?
December 2nd of every year is an occasion for UAE nationals and residents alike, to express their pride in the country’sdevelopmental and civilizational achievements.
The UAE's 47thNational Day coincides with the centenary of the birth of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, as HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed dubbed 2018 to be the “Year of Zayed”. The late Sheikh Zayed was renowned for his wisdom and vision, his role and his policies in building the country, achieving development, strengthening its economy and national security, and leading it on the path towards a prosperous future.
What is the main upcoming event in the United Arab Emirates that will draw the interest of the rest of the world?
Dubai EXPO 2020 is one of the most important achievements under way. The exhibition is an effective implementation of international cooperation policies and plays a central role in expanding and bolstering bilateral and multilateral relations. The exhibition is expected to host more than 200 participating countries. It will contribute to strengthening cultural understanding and nurturing cultural dialogue between nations, while changing the prevailing perceptions on the region. Dubai EXPO 2020 will position the UAE as a cradle of emerging technology, an incubator for SMEs and entrepreneurs in the region.
Other than the investments in the technology and innovation sectors, how else is the United Arab Emirates contributing to tackling major global issues today such as changes in the global climate?
The UAE continues to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which represent a road map for building a better and more sustainable tomorrow for future generations.
The country continues to devote itself to addressing major global challenges including poverty eradication, environmental protection, climate change, establishment of justice and peace, supporting and promotingglobal progress. The aims are to achieve the ultimate goals for humanity: eradicate poverty eradication and attain sustainable development by 2030. The UAE has taken the lead in efforts to combat poverty and provide foreign assistance to the needy.
The UAE ranked first as the largest international donor in 2017. Donations made in 2017 amounted to a total ODA contribution of Dh19.32 billion (US $ 5.26 billion), a year-on-year growth rate of 18.1% from 2016. Over 54 percent of the ODA was in the form of non-refundable grants to 147 countries (including 40 of the least developed countries) across the world.

Awarded with the First Class Medal "Gwang Hwa" for Excellence in diplomatic services, The Korean President H. E. Lee Myung Bak.
Awarded with the Chilean Order of Merit in the Grade of Grand Cross – from the First Class, by the Chilean President Michelle Bachelet.
Designed the United Arab Emirates Flag in 1971.
Participated in various meetings, also in Regional and International Conferences.
Participated in various sessions of the Arab League.
Member of the UAE Delegation to the sessions of the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1981 and 1991.

2018 was declared the Year of Zayed in the United Arab Emirates with the aim of reviving the memory of the centenary of the birth of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may Allah Rest His soul in Peace, the founder of the United Arab Emirates and the first President of the United Arab Emirates in 1971. This year highlights Sheikh Zayed’s leadership and achievements at the national, regional and international levels and introduces future generations to his legacy and encourages them to achieve his vision of prosperity, tolerance and peace, as well as inspiring them by his values and achievements as a global leader.
