Tropical days are becoming increasingly common. A refreshing break during a summer outing is always welcome. One of the best options is ice cream. Lovers of authentic Italian gelato should make a note of Mukařov. In this Central Bohemian village, they can enjoy a wide variety of delicious flavours – served in truly original setting. The gelato is dispensed from a bus.
Decorated with the Italian tricolour, the bus leaves no doubt about the kind of ice cream served here. “It used to be a party bus, but for the past six years we’ve been based here permanently,” explains Jan Zapleták, majority owner of Bustočená. Every day, the menu features nine flavours. “We have around 120 flavours altogether,” says Zapleták. The gelato is made with real fruit and without artificial additives. The slush drinks are prepared from a neutral base, with syrup added according to each customer’s preference. The “bus gelato” has built an excellent reputation, and those who wish can even buy it in containers to take home. During the season, long queues are common, yet customers rarely wait longer than five minutes. “We serve around 200 kilograms of gelato a week,” adds Jan Zapleták. There is convenient parking, seating both outside and inside the bus, and a few attractions for children as well. The gelato bus is open daily from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., while the latest news can be found on Facebook (Bustočená) and Instagram (@bustocena).
