With the support of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Prague, the traditional Czech-Slovak Diplomatic Evening organized by The Business Soirée magazine took place in the second half of June at Prague’s Hotel Jalta. As one of the event’s partners, Mr. Luděk Sekyra, noted that the shared history of the two countries and their excellent mutual relations provide a strong foundation for building exceptional future cooperation – beyond just politics and business.
The same sentiment was echoed in speeches by the Slovak guests, with a truly original perspective on Czech-Slovak relations delivered by Lucia Kurilovská, state secretary at the Slovak Ministry of the Interior. The presence of the last federal Miss from 1993, Silvia Lakatošová, the media partnership with Slovenka magazine, and speeches by Alena Schillerová and Karel Havlíček all reinforced one shared message – that in the European Union, there are no nations closer to one another than Czechs and Slovaks. The accompanying exhibition of works by Oscar Eagle – a neo-pop surrealist British painter inspired by Andy Warhol – and an artistic program by students of the Jan Deyl Conservatory also served, as Slovak Ambassador Martin Muránsky emphasized, as a beautiful illustration of everything that makes Czech-Slovak closeness so unique.
