“At every meeting between our two countries, I find it important to highlight that we share a long history of cooperation and friendship – and this applies to the field of healthcare as well,” said Slovak Minister of Health Kamil Šaško during his visit to Prague in early July.
Together with the Czech Minister of Health Vlastimil Válek, they signed – after an incredible 10 years of preparation – the Agreement on Cross-Border Cooperation between Czech and Slovak Emergency Medical Services. Paramedics will finally be able to operate on both sides of the border as if at home – faster, more coordinated, and without unnecessary administrative hurdles. Minister Šaško sees the continuation of intergovernmental cooperation between Czechia and Slovakia primarily in four areas: strengthening cross-border cooperation, pharmaceutical policy, connecting research and development capacities in medical science and research, and building human resources in the public interest. “I am convinced that the implementation of these four areas of cooperation will culminate in a ceremonial signing of the agreement by the presidents of our two countries – Mr. Peter Pellegrini and Mr. Petr Pavel – in November this year,” concluded the minister.
